How to clean your grill effectively and safely?

Click:111 seen

Before you even start planning your barbecue, the first step is to clean the entire grill from the remnants of last summer's culinary adventure. Even if you wipe down your grill before putting it away for the winter, it's important to clean it thoroughly at the start of each new season.

Here's why: The same grilling method that makes those Instagram-perfect, delicious scorches on your burgers and steaks will also create carbon deposits on nearly every surface of your grill, including the grille, the hood, the inside of the firebox, as well as the seasoning sticks and burner tubes (on gas grills).

These hard carbon deposits are not just ugly; Grease and sugary sauces can stick to them and grow bacteria. Excessive carbon buildup can cause the grill to heat unevenly and not reach full operating temperature, and gas burner tubes may fail prematurely.

In general, to make the grill easier to clean, you should give it a quick scrub after each use. Follow these simple steps all summer long: Brush the grill grates clean with a wire brush after each cooking, and be sure to remove any loose wire brush bristles before lighting the grill. If you grill frequently, say at least once a week, thoroughly clean the grate every two months. During a grilling season, you should give your grill two thorough cleanings, which will help it cook better and last longer.

You can find many grill-cleaning tools, gadgets, and gizmos online or at your local hardware store, but nothing beats the long-handled wire brush, wire bottle brush. Avoid using chemicals to clean grills, as they can give food odors. Instead, all you need is some warm water, grease-removing dish soap, and a thick paste made from cleaning vinegar and baking soda.

If your grill has a stainless steel exterior, a dedicated stainless steel cleaner will make it sparkle. You'll also need a pair of long-cuffed rubber gloves, a few disposable washing sponges and a few pieces of cotton cloth. When cleaning stainless steel, wait until overcast; The hot sun can make streaks on stainless steel hard to remove. Besides, it's more pleasant to work in cooler weather.

Start by finding a suitable place to clean the grill. This area should be away from the side of your camp or yard. This is where you'll brush off the ashes and scabs from the grill, so it should stay off the sidewalk. Choosing a cleaning spot away from the walking path will prevent dust and coke in your campsite or home. Take the grill out of the grill. The grate could get ash and coke on your hands. Use gloves to prevent it from transferring to the skin. Brush the grille with a wire grille brush to remove dirt from the grille. Use moderate force when brushing grilles and grills. Using excessive force may peel off the coating on your grill, which may negatively affect its performance or be ineffective for warranties. Or you can try cutting a lemon in half and squeezing it on the grill. Once done, scrub the grill with the lemon cut surface, then wipe it clean with a rag. That way, there's no chemical residue, so you can use the grill again right away.

Remember to remove dirt from the cover and bottom of the grille. Use your brush to remove debris from the bottom and lid of the grill. If you notice peeling paint, remove it with a stiff bristle brush or putty knife. Wipe the lid and shell of the grill with a rag dampened with soapy water. If you are using a communal barbecue, you may need to put your hand in a plastic bag and sweep loose residue into a separate plastic bag to throw away. If necessary, discard any ash left over from the ash trap. The ash trap is a container located at the bottom of the grill where ash is collected over time.

After you have cleaned the grille, coat the grille with vegetable oil. Vegetable oil is waterproof and prevents parts from rusting. Check the grill grid frequently during the winter for rust. Remove small amounts of rust promptly to prevent more rust and metal damage.
