History Of Picnic

Click:62 seen

The word "Picnic" comes from the French word "Pique-nique" and means that everyone involved should bring their own food, wine and tea. People call this small, outdoor party with no fixed invitation object called Picnic, a veritable picnic was born.

A proper picnic is a ritual. In the 15th century, Gaston III's Hunting Book, dedicated to the hunting-obsessed Count Phoebus, contains a description of a picnic scene. The translation goes like this:

In the morning, before departure, the chef begins to prepare semi-finished products, such as ham pies. When the nobles were hunting, the servants would set up tables and tablecloths in the fields. The keepers of birds and animals must select the animals to be slaughtered and then cooked by a special game chef. The wine must be iced with mountain spring first to ensure that the entrance is cool.

The French pique-nique of the 17th century may have been what we now call a potluck (each participant brings a dish). In the 18th century, it was probably the equivalent of an American saloon. By the 19th century, Americans had generally moved the event outdoors.

A picnic for one

A picnic is usually a social event, but the explorer Joseph. Joseph Rock captured this solo dining setup in 1910 in a pine forest in the foothills of Lijiang in Yunnan Province, China.
